Blaine Sets World Record!
Earlier today, Magician-Illusionist David Blaine set the world record for "breath-holding" on "The Oprah Winfrey Show". He held his breath for a whopping 17 minutes and 4 seconds!! Peter Colat of Swizterland had set the previous record of 16 minutes and 32 seconds on Feb. 10. Before the feat, Blaine was allowed to breathe pure oxygen for 30 minutes (he only inhaled for 23 minutes), which is allowed under the guidelines set by the Guiness Book of World Records. How crazy is that? Blaine is fast becoming the "endurance" artist of our time, having been incased in a block of ice, buried alive, and having spent 44-days inside a suspended, transparent plexiglas case in London. What is he going to do next?!

CSI Star Arrested
Gary Dourdan, who has starred in 183 episodes of CSI (2000-2008), has been arrested in Palm Springs on the suspicion of possessing drugs. An officer found Dourdan sleeping in his car, which had been parked on the wrong side of the road. Dourdan plans on leaving the top-rated CSI in May, so this incident is unlikely to affect production on his hit show. I'm sure fans will miss seeing Dourban on the show, but it'll be interesting to see what new characters CBS has install.

Alba turns 27
The object of every man's desires (at least to FHM readers), actress Jessica Alba, turns 27 today! Alba first caught Hollywood's eye in the James Cameron-produced Sci-Fi TV Series, "Dark Angel". Since then, she has starred in films such as "Sin City" and "Fantastic Four". Her new movie, "The Love Guru", co-starring Mike Myers aka Austin Powers, is due on June 20.

The Photograph
CNN reports that teen queen Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana, is involved in a 'Vanity Fair' photo controversy. The photo in question , shows Cyrus holding a blanket, with her bare back visible. The photograph was taken by acclaimed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, who was recently in the news for her untraditional portrait photos of the Queen of England. Leibovitz has defended her photo of Cyrus by saying, "I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted... The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful." I agree. The portrait is composed beautifully, and doesn't appear to be intentionally provocative. In the article, even Cyrus says, "I thought, this looks pretty, and really natural. I think it’s really artsy.” This matter is up to subjective debate, and it appears the media is sensationalizing it. Either way, I believe Hannah Montana will continue to be Disney's top show.

Weekly Scoop
This week's scoop is all about Oprah! Two high profile guests will appear on her show in the next few weeks. Firstly, on April 30, magician and illusionist David Blaine will appear, and ET reports that he will attempt to break the world record... for holding one's breath! The current record is 16 minutes and 14 seconds!! Can someone really hold their breath that long without experiencing severe side-effects?! We're going to have to tune-in to see.
Next for Oprah is.... Tom Cruise! He'll appear in May, and hasn't been back since the "jumping the couch" incident in 2005. His appearance also coincides with the 25th Anniversary of "Risky Business"! Oprah fans would no doubt love an impromptu dance routine. Will it happen? Let's hope so.

78!
Director / Producer Richard Donner turns 78 today! It's hard to believe that 30 years ago his film, "Superman: The Movie", starring the late Christopher Reeve, ignited the box office. "Superman" is still one of my favorite movies, and I'd love to see Donner direct another one! Donner is also known for directing the "Lethal Weapon" movies and over 25 different TV series, including episodes of "Get Smart" & "The Twlight Zone".
