Aspiring producers getting the munchies over the LATV Fest

Showtime’s critically acclaimed series, Weeds, will bring its cotton-mouthed goodness to the LATV Fest. 

On Thursday, July 26th, NATPE in coordination with Showtime will screen the season 2 finale. Following the screening, there will be an open panel discussion on the different steps taken to bring the show from an idea to a full-fledged on-air success. Panelists include: Showtime’s Robert Greenblatt (President, Entertainment), Lionsgate’s Kevin Beggs (President, Programming & Production), The Hollywood Reporter’s Ray Richmond (Columnist/Television Critic), and creator of Weeds, Jenji Kohan!

William Morris hits homerun with NextGen: Pitch Me competition

William Morris Agency, the largest diversified talent and literary agency in the world, just signed on to sponsor the first ever “NextGen: Pitch Me” competition!

The competition is an extension of the highly successful “Pitch Me” competition held for years at the NATPE annual conference. The purpose of “Pitch Me” is to reach out to the television development community and say great new programming ideas are out there that the community isn’t thinking of.

The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to join such elite clients as Scarlett Johansson, Russell Crowe, John Travolta, and many others.

The NextGen competition just got a little less pitchy, Dawg!

Fremantle Media, the producers of American Idol, just signed on to award the winner of Best Comedy at the 2nd annual NextGen competition. 

Now, if only Simon, Paula, and her magic coca-cola cup could be there to read the winners name, then we’d really be talking.
