Little Storm Sings

On this day in 1952, My Little Margie debuted on CBS-TV, starring Gale Storm (Margie Albright) and Charles Farrell (Vernon Albright).

The show was based at the Carlton Arms Hotel, Apartment 10-A, where Vern was a very eligible widower and Margie, his 21-year-old daughter, was continually scheming to help dad and continually causing big trouble while helping.

The show made the unusual move from television to radio in December, 1952, airing original, not simulcast, versions on the radio. Storm and Farrell starred in the radio series as well. The TV show skipped around the networks, going from CBS after four months to NBC back to CBS in January of 1953 and then back to NBC in September of that year.

The sitcom met its demise in August 1955, just in time for Margie Storm to move into a singing career with pop chart hits such as Why Do Fools Fall in Love.
